This book has a variety of Owl designs with some bordering on too simple and some bordering on too complex. I wish the description made it clear about the child-like drawings so I would have understood what I was going to receive. Thankfully, I can cut these pages out for my grandchildren to color. The rest of the designs are actually quite good for an adult and are going to be lots of fun to color. There seems to be a wide variety of styles, so it is very possible that more than one artist was involved in creating the images in the book.

The designs are printed on one side of thin white paper which is typical of those published by CreateSpace. The pages are not perforated but the artist has left ample room to cut a page out if you choose to do so. The binding is glued rather than sewn, so you can have it cut off if you wish to have sheets rather than a book. Most of the more adult designs simply stop at a point and leave unfinished elements. One in particular cuts off the bottom of an owl’s feather even though there appeared to be ample room for the design to finish properly. Unfinished design edges are a pet peeve of mine I prefer that the artist put a framing line around the whole design to give me a natural stopping point.

All of my markers and gel pens bleed through this paper and coloring pencils work well with it. As the backside of the page is blank, I can use a heavyweight paper or chipboard beneath my working page to keep ink from leaking through. Chipboard can be purchased at an office supply store or on-line fairly inexpensively. I can reuse it many times over, so that is becoming my standard blotter sheet.
