35 Great and Detailed Steampunk inspired designs – printed one side of the page

Adult Coloring Book :Steampunk Life: Steampunk Unleashed! Fashion To Futuristic Steampunk Life

By: Nathaniel Wake

Rating: 5 of 5

Both my husband and I really enjoy Steampunk inspired designs. When this coloring book arrived, we got into a bit of a tussle for who would look at it first. I called dibs (since I bought it!) and laid claim to all of the designs. My husband took a look at it and went off to order his own copy. We generally are willing to share but when a really great book comes along, we need our own copies. This is just such a book.

The Steampunk designs represent much of the genre. There are mechanized clad men and beautiful women, animals and even insects. There are also beautiful mermaids, birds, motorcycles, flying machines, beasts and more. So much in one book. I especially like the design that has monkeys rigged out in Steampunk style

I consider this to be one of the best Steampunk coloring books currently available. It is well-rounded and has both masculine and feminine appeal and represents the genre very well. My other books concentrate pretty much on only one area (generally females) so it is great to have a coloring book with more varied design subjects.

The designs are detailed and a few have areas which have a little more intricate coloring. Overall, I don’t think I will need special coloring medium and I don’t consider the designs to be especially difficult or intricate to color. That being said, they are detailed with full backgrounds and will provides hours of fun in coloring.

20 Adorable Little Dragons with 2 copies of each design – printed one side of the page

Adult Coloring Book: Nice Little Dragons (Volume 1)

By: Tatiana Bogema (Stolova)

Rating: 5 of 5

This is a really cute coloring book of 20 dragon designs. These are cute and fun rather than fierce. Frankly, I find them adorable and would have fun coloring them with my grandchildren (though the level is above their skill set at this time.)

Some of my dragon books are really for much older children and adults but these little cuties are not threatening at all. They are simply lots of fun to color. One of my favorites is the little dragon who seems to have caught a cold – with hot drink in hand and thermometer in its mouth.

While the designs of the dragons themselves have some detail, most of the pages are what I would categorize as fairly easy to color. There is plenty of room to add your own special touches if you wish.

20 Cute postcards inspired by Love – designs printed on one side of the card

Zendoodle Coloring: Love Notes: 20 Cards to Color and Give to the One You Love

By: Bonnie Lynn Demanche

Rating: 4 of 5

This is a cute set of postcards which deal mostly with romantic love. There are a few which may apply to other individuals but it is generally something you would color and give to your sweetheart. The back of each page is pre-set for use as a postcard. The card has a spot for a stamp and is equally divided for a written message and an address.

The designs are detailed and a few have smaller areas to color which might require the use of ultra-fine pens/markers or really sharp pencils. Crayons might be difficult to use unless you are able to sharpen them to a fairly fine point.

The binding is a notepad style where it is easy to remove pages by carefully pulling them away. They will remove in whole without any loss of designs. The paper is a lightweight card stock rather than a heavy weight postcard stock. It is white and fairly smooth to the touch.

Beautifully drawn designs which feature the word “Love” in a variety of languages

By: Clara Yang

Rating: 5 of 5

I am always looking for unique and interesting coloring books. I happened across this book of designs on Amazon and was surprised that it had been available since 2016 and I had not seen it before. It is a perfect book for Valentine’s Day or for any day of the year in which you want to express love.

It is a beautiful book of designs which feature Love in each. The word is written in different languages and it is a pick of a hunt to find it in many of the designs. There are words printed in small font on many of the pages. While I wish these had bee put on a master page by themselves, it doesn’t trouble me too much as they are small enough not to be the focus of the design page.

The designs themselves are a wide range of subjects from cultures around the world as well as scenes which have a universal appeal. From forests to oceans and from geishas to dancers, I found each design to be unique and interesting, not to mention looking like lots of fun to color.

The designs are detailed and some include small and intricate areas to color. For the most part, I don’t consider this a difficult book to color. It can be appealing for all skill levels, with plenty of room for advanced colorists to enjoy adding their own touches to the designs.

25 x 2 each of Ancient Egypt Hieroglyphic style designs – printed one side of the page

Ancient Egypt: A Coloring Book with Egyptian Gods, Mysterious Hieroglyphics, and Ancient Architecture

By: Jade Summer

Rating: 5 of 5

I have been looking for a coloring book with Egyptian style hieroglyphic designs and was really pleased to find this one. This coloring book has 25 different designs (the referenced 50 comes from getting two of each of the designs.) The designs really evoke the look and feel of ancient artwork to me. While they are not perfect replicas of known work, they have many of the iconic images I am looking for.

The designs are very detailed with but not what I consider intricate. There are many areas to color but I can use most coloring medium without any issues. I think crayons might be more difficult unless you can sharpen them to a fairly fine point.

While you can have access to .PDFs when you purchase this book, my review is based on the book as it is received from Amazon. That way you will know what the pages look like and how they accept color. I like that the publisher provides the digital version as well so you can choose the paper you wish to use and/or to color the pictures as many times as you choose.

30 Beautiful and Elegant Swirling designs – printed one side of the page

Lovely Swirls: Coloring Book for Adults

By: Stefania Miro

Rating: 5 of 5

I purchased this book with the older cover. It recently changed to a new one but the interior is the same. I’ve included covers of both the older and the newer cover. The older one is the one with a woman’s face with swirling lines about it.

I own several coloring books by artist Stefania Miro so when I saw that she had a new “swirl” design book, I was very happy to purchase it. The 30 designs (31 if you include the title page which duplicates another design in the book) are of animals, birds, and flowers (and even a mermaid) with mostly swirling vines surrounding them. I don’t believe I saw a straight line anywhere in the coloring book.

The designs are detailed but not what I call intricate (i.e., with tiny spots to color.) Some of the designs are easily colored while others will take more time to complete.

39 cute Valentine’s Day heart designs – designs printed on one side of the page

For Valentine, with Love

By: Tanya Bogema (Stolova)

Rating: 5 of 5

This is a coloring book of heart designs. The designs range from patterns to hearts which contain entire little scenes. There are a couple that make me think of this artist’s Nice Little Town series.

While many of the designs have simple to complicated abstract patterns and florals, there are some really cute ones that are more complicated. I especially like the steampunk heart and the fairy castle heart, too.

There are a variety of hearts, some with more detail than others. While a few have smaller and more intricate areas to color, I would categorize as medium as far as how difficult it is to color. Since the hearts are generally centered on the page (think of mandalas) with lots of white space around, there is plenty of room to add your own special touches if you wish.

71 Design Pages of Snow White illustrations plus a large removable poster

Snow White Coloring Book

By: Fabiana Attanasio

Rating: 5 of 5

This is a book based on the story of Snow White. It is part of a series of story book coloring books by Fabiana Attanasio. The first five pages of the book tell the story briefly and also have a couple of coloring elements scattered throughout. The next 71 pages line drawings based on this story. In addition to these great coloring pages, there is a huge removable poster at the end of the book.

All of the characters are present I would hope for are present, Snow White, the Evil Queen (both as herself and as the old witch), the Seven Dwarfs, the Huntsman and Prince Charming. Snow White and Prince Charming are drawn as younger individuals rather than as adults in this coloring book.

31 Mehndi inspired Mandalas with black backgrounds – printed one side of the page

Mehndi Mandalas Adult Coloring Book: Black Background

By: Stefania Miro

Rating: 5 of 5

I found this to be a fun coloring book of mandalas. The designs have a bit of detail but not so much to be overwhelming. I like coloring mandalas but some have such intricate spots to color, I have problems with both my eyes and getting the nibs of my pens/pencils into the spots to color. This is not that type of coloring book.

While the coloring book is Mehndi in nature, I find a lot of floral inspiration in it as well. I enjoy it no matter the inspiration and will enjoy coloring in it.

I like the black background as it can hide the times I color outside the lines if I am using markers. I’ve found that is not as true with pencils as the color can show up slightly on the background.

I did note that the copy I received from the publisher had an issue with the background not being fully printed in black (the unbound edge of the last few pages had approximately a quarter inch of white showing on the unbound edge. The copy I purchased did not have the issue (which was as well as I bought it as a gift for a family member.) With this kind of issue, a quick call to Amazon usually results in a rapid replacement copy being ordered.

30 Unusual and Interesting Fairies designs – printed on one side of the page

Fairies in Bloom: A Fairy & Flower Coloring Book!

By: Kimbery Van Rossum

Rating: 5 of 5

This is an unusual coloring book of fairy designs. The fairies are quite lovely but what is unusual is the use of heavy bold lines and the many dots that make up the shading on each of the designs. It gives the illustration the look of pointillism which is quite different from other books that I have. The results is not only unusual and interest but also quite beautiful as well.

The designs are detailed and some of the designs have intricate and small areas to color. I do suggest the use of a liquid blender with these designs as the heavy black lines and the dots have a tendency (due to the thin quality of CreateSpace books) to smear with a pencil blending stick.
