Fun romance with a great mystery

This is both the first book I have read in this series as well as the first book I have read by Olivia Drake. The book can easily be read stand-alone though I am looking forward to going back and reading the earlier books in this series to see the back story on the slippers.

I started the book expecting an historical romance (which it delivered) but was really surprised to find that it had a wonderful mystery embedded as well. That brought together my two favorite genres in novels and did it very well.

Another engaging mystery in this cozy mystery series set in Maine

Thread the Halls (A Mainely Needlepoint Mystery)

I’ve read and enjoyed all six books in this series. While I think this book could be read stand-alone, I recommend reading the series in order as the character development and relationships are built from book to book.

The series is set in a fictitious town on the shore of Maine. My husband grew up in Camden, Maine and he tells me that Lea Wait is spot on in her descriptions of the types of individuals who live in Maine, the look and feel of the small towns that dot the coast line and also in her history of the state.
