Empty Nest: A Birds of a Feather Mystery

emptynestThis is the second book in this series that I have read and enjoyed. The murder mystery is set in modern-day England and has a bird-lover twist to it.

The sleuth is Julie Lancaster. She is the manager of the tourist center at the Fotheringill estate. She has a cozy little estate cottage but mold has been found and has to be cleared up. While the clean-up is on-going, she is staying at the manor home.

Problems ensue when the son of the lord of the manor shows up with his friend. When someone is found murdered, the police take over to solve the case. Of course, Julie is pulled into the solving the mystery when fingers of suspicion start being pointed in all directions.

Julie’s relationship with her boyfriend Michael (from the first in the series book) is progressing well until a bump in the road of Julie’s past suddenly shows up. Julie has to decide whether complete honesty or keeping promises means more to her.

The book is an excellent cozy mystery and I look forward to reading more in the series and by this author in the future.

I was provided a temporary digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher, Alibi, via Netgalley.
