Another great addition to this wonderful mystery series

murdermaryrussellI was late to the starting point with this series. I began reading it with the “Dreaming Spies” and was beginning to work my way through the series from the beginning. I jumped ahead once again to read “The Murder of Mary Russell” as it is just being released. Another great read and one that had me wondering up until the end about where the book was headed.

The story is told in Mary’s present time as well as stepping back to events that unfolded many years before. The book moves back and forth to build a seamless storyline that tells the tale of one Clarissa Hudson (aka Clara Hudson) and how she and Sherlock came to meet and to, eventually, work together. To say more is to give away important parts of the story, so I will stop with saying that I found the back story to be really interesting and Mrs. Hudson a character to reckon with.

This is a series that is providing me with great enjoyment. I am a Sherlock Holmes fan and books that tag along with Holmes leave a lot to be desired but that is absolutely not true of this series. It picks up at a point in Holmes life and carries on from there with what I feel to be stories that reflect the Holmes characters et al in a believable fashion.

I enjoyed this book and have been enjoying the series. I plan to continue to read new books in the series and will look forward to each new one as it is published.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via the publisher.
