deathcrashes“Death Crashes the Party” is the debut book by author Vickie Fee as well as the first book in her new Liv and Di mystery series. Liv is a party planner in Dixie, Tennessee and Di is her best friend. Together they get into a lot of mischief as they try to solve the murder mystery that has their small town turned upside down.

The story is looked at from Liv’s perspective and she is a typical southern belle. She is also fairly hot-headed and speaks and acts quite often without thinking through the consequences. Di is a more reasonable individual and she is constantly pulling Liv back from the brink but is also very good at keeping secrets of their own.

The story presents a few of what are typically thought of as southerners. More than one individual is know by both their first and middle names. Mamas are ever-present in their grown child’s lives and good is a panacea for whatever ails you.

The mystery was interesting but not quite solvable without information that was dropped on the reader rather late in the game. Even with that (which usually kills the enjoyments of a mystery for me), I had a lot of fun reading this book. I look forward to the second book in the series when it arrives late in 2016.

I was provided a temporary digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher, Kensington, via Netgalley.
