Holiday Parade: A Christmas Adult Coloring Book

This is a really fun and interesting sampler of 24 artists who have currently published under Blue Star or who will shortly release their coloring books. I love getting an idea of a designers style based on this book. I have a couple of books by some of the artists and I can verify that the design in this book is very much in keeping with the book I own by them. Seeing some of the work has convinced me to pick up a couple of other artists who are already published and to be on the lookout for several more by mid-2016.

The designs are all various takes on the holiday with most giving a nod to Christmas. There is at least one that I think may be more of a holiday solstice concept. I must admit I was looking forward to a Christmas book by Suzy Joyner so I was happy too see her gingerbread man design in this book (though, please, give us a Christmas book, too!)

The book is printed on a good quality but thin bright white paper. The designs are printed on one side of the page with the backside left blank. I will definitely put a piece of freezer paper or card stock behind the page as I work as all markers and gel pens leak through. My coloring pencils do a good job on this paper as well.

While the pages are not perforated, it doesn’t appear that it will be difficult to remove them from the binding. The binding is glued rather than sewn. Only one of the designs merges into the binding and that part of the design is not integral to the whole concept. Most of the designs have a frame around them and all but the one have plenty of space if you wish to cut the page out of the book.
