First, let me note that I received an earlier version of this coloring book. The artist informed me that since I received my copy, two things of note have occurred. One, the cover is no longer matte but is now a glossy black and two, you will see a slightly blurry dolphin design in my video flip-through. That design has been removed from the current version of the book for quality issues.

Now, to the review. I really like the variety of animals in this 50 design coloring book. They range from sea to land to air animals. They come from a variety of continents. It’s too bad about the dolphin as it is a beautiful design apart from being blurry in printing. Hopefully, it will make a re-appearance in a future coloring book. There is a nice level of detail which will make coloring these animals lots of fun and a bit challenging. I like to go a little crazy and give my animals fur or feathers in colors you would never see in real life. The designs are centered nicely on the page.

The designs are printed on one side of thin white. The pages are not perforated but the artist has left ample room to cut a page out if you choose to do so. The binding is glued rather than sewn, so you can have it cut off if you wish to have sheets rather than a book. The designs all have finished elements or framing around them so I have a natural stopping point when I am coloring. I really like this as it helps give work a more polished a finished look.

All of my markers and gel pens bleed through this paper and coloring pencils work well with it. As the backside of the page is blank, I can use a heavyweight paper or chipboard beneath my working page to keep ink from leaking through. Chipboard can be purchased at an office supply store or on-line fairly inexpensively. I can reuse it many times over, so that is becoming my standard blotter sheet.

I was provided a free sample of this coloring book for test and review purposes.
