126 pages of Beautiful Christian Prayer Designs by Deborah Muller printed on both sides of page

Posh Adult Coloring Book: Prayers for Inspiration & Peace

Rating: 5 of 5

I own a couple of other Posh books which concentrate on a single designer one of them by the same artist as this book, Deborah Muller. The other book was generic in nature but this one focuses on religious matters unabashedly. I am always looking for great Christian coloring books and this is one is great – both in total designs and design style.

There are Bible quotes, prayers, and sayings which deal with prayers, both what we should pray, do pray, and how God hears and answers prayer. The designs are lovely and are integrated into the words so that the two mesh together. The designs are detailed and a good number are what I would call intricate (with some including small areas to color.)

I will provide a detailed explanation of what I found with the physical book below for anyone interested, however, here is a quick overview of the book:

126 Christian-based Designs that are detailed in nature
Designs are printed on both sides of non-perforated white paper
Designs do not merge into binding
Binding is glued
Alcohol-based markers bleed through the page
Water-based markers are mixed with Tombows working the best
Gel pens work well and do not bleed through
Coloring pencils work well with this paper

The designs are printed on both sides of a medium weight non-perforated paper. The binding is glued rather than sewn. You can cut the pages out without losing any of the design. The designs do not merge into the binding and they are limited to a single page. I was able to break the spine enough to get the book to lay fairly flat.

The designs either have = finished elements on the sides and/or have a framing line that defines where the colorist can stop. I really like when an artist includes this touch as it gives my project a better look once I am finished and saves me time and trouble while I am coloring. This is my little pet peeve and I always try to mention when it is done well.

I test my coloring books with each of my coloring medium types. I’ll list those in the comments section below, but here is what I found:

All of my alcohol-based markers bled through the paper immediately. The water-based were rather mixed. My Tombow’s did not leak through when I used the brush end but did when I used the fine point side. The test of my water-based markers did not bleed through completely but you could definitely see a shadow of the color on the backside of the page. None of my gel pens leaked through and they did not require additional drying time. My coloring pencils worked great and behaved according to their lead type (hard/soft core).

If you want to color with any medium other than coloring pencils or gel pens, there is a good chance you will destroy the design on the back of the page you are working on (and be sure to put a heavy weight piece of paper or card stock under your work so it won’t leak through further.)

For my first project, I used the brush end of my Tombow markers and was really pleased with how it turned out. As determined by my tests, I had no ink bleed through at all.
