I enjoy coloring cute figures both with and without backgrounds. This book is the latter. The ladies in the designs are quite curvy and are shown in a number of outfits, including bathing suits, hula girls, beach cover-ups, robes and more. The ladies all have big eyes but in almost all of them, those eyes are shut with long lashes being the highlight of the face.

I chose a design for my first project and then realized that I probably chose the one design that had a slight mistake in the line art (the legs and thighs didn’t quite match up.) No problem as I just used a darker color for the jeans and the unusual leg issue resolved itself. I’ve looked closely at other designs and don’t see anything else amiss, so I’m still really pleased with the design choice and quality.

Here is what I found within this book:

25 x 2 (50) My Besties Curvy Lady designs
Printed on one side of the page
Page is white, slightly rough, and is non-perforated
Glue Bound
Designs do not merge into the binding
Room enough to cut pages out if you wish to do so
Alcohol and water-based markers bleed through the page
Gel pens and India ink pens leave color shadows on back of the page
Coloring pencils work well: soft lead lay down color, layer, and blend well; hard lead dent the back of the page but lay down good color

I test my coloring books with various medium. My tests are not exhaustive as I spend about half an hour per book with my tests. The tests do give me an idea of how the different medium react to the paper but not the experience of coloring a full design with each type. You should always test for yourself as your method of using a coloring medium may differ from my method.
