Part of a series but read as a great stand-alone novel

Heart Conditions (The Breakup Doctor Series) (Volume 3)

By:Phoebe Fox

Rating: 5 of 5

index“Heart Conditions” by Phoebe Fox is the third book in a series about Brook Ogden, who is a therapist known as The Breakup Doctor. I read the book without realizing at first that it was part of a series but I often read book out of order to see how they fare as a stand-alone. This one passed that test very well. The only thing is, I liked it so well, I have already purchased the first two in the series so I can be up-to-date when Ms. Fox releases another book.

Brook has had some issues with her love life and rather than having it make her grown weak, it has made her stronger. She dispenses advice to her patients, her radio audience and to those who read her column in the local newspaper.

What they don’t know is that she is just getting over a series of break-ups herself. One from out of the blue just before her wedding day, another one that was a crazy rebound, and finally, the one that really mattered.

The book is funny and feels very real. The problems Brook and her friends go through are ones that people experience every day. It was interesting to read through both the advice that is dished out and to see how Brook herself reacts in situations. The novel is fun and funny but touches on real life issues with a deft hand.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher, Henery Press, via Netgalley.
