“Pumpkins in Paradise” is the first book I have read by author Kathi Daley. The book is also the first in a series of mysteries about Tj Jensen. Tj has taken on the task of raising her two half-sisters after her mother recently passed away. She is also the type of individual who likes to volunteer (or be volunteered) for a various groups and causes in her small town Paradise, Nevada.
Tj, despite the huge age difference, is friends with the town’s recluse, Zachary Collins. When Tj finds him unexpectedly dead, she can’t believe that it was of natural causes. She starts putting together clues, using the puzzle solving skills that Zachary has been teaching her for years. Along the way, she finds clues that Zachary has left for her which help her figure out the whodunnit and why.
While I was able to figure out the mystery early on, I was still intrigued by the introduction of characters in a new series to still be interested in the story. I’ll be looking for other books in this series to see how the author advances the story line of the series while working through each book’s mystery.
