first100wordsThis is a really delightful book to read with a toddler. My grandson and I snuggle up and go through the book page by page – he points to the picture and I saw the word. For some items, I point to the picture and he says the word. It is helping him become more verbal.

About two weeks ago, he suddenly put the concept of saying “bye-bye” together with something leaving – maybe his mom when she drops him off in the morning, the birds flying away from the roof line at his window, or the postwoman after she drops off something at our house. Once that happened, he suddenly starting using other words and we are all trying to teach him more and more while he is so receptive. This book is wonderful for that as it literally has one hundred words along with completely cute and identifiable pictures that really mean something to a little one.

It is such an inexpensive board book it should be within the reach of most people. I highly recommend it as a purchase for your little one or as a gift if you are looking for something for a baby or young toddler. Becoming verbal is such an empowering moment for a little one that encouraging it is a great gift.
