danglingthreadThis is a mystery series that I have enjoyed and have read the first the second book in the series. I jumped ahead to book 4 and was able to pick up the action easily.

In this story our sleuth, Angie, is beginning to think about staying in Haven Harbor beyond the six months she has allotted herself. As she is four months into the period, she will need to figure out things pretty soon. She has two men that she might become interested in and she has a job to do that she is enjoying. The personal plot line of this series moves slowly but that is in line with the concept of four books covering a period of four months.

While she is working through her own personal issues, a local man, Jesse also known locally as “The Solitary” is found murdered. As Angie and her friend Dave were the last known individuals to see Jesse alive. Jesse was a loner who had returned from war with PTSD and had found peace living a bare existence on an island and dedicating his life to saving the local birds. Angie and the rest of the Mainely Needlepointers decide to take up the cause to save the birds and also to figure out whodunnit.

I was able to figure out the whodunnit about halfway through the book. It was due to clues given in text. I don’t mind figuring out the mystery early as long as it makes sense. I really dislike mysteries that just dump the ending on you with no rhyme or reason – that is certainly not how this book was written.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.
