Another great book in this funny Southern mystery series

Southern Fried (A Kenni Lowry Mystery) (Volume 2)

By: Tonya Kappes

Rating: 5 of 5

southernfriedThis is the second book in the Kenni Lowry Mystery series by Tonya Kappes. It picks up right where the last book left off and takes off with a bang. The action continued throughout the book with lots of red herrings and quirky Southern manners and mannerisms along the way.

Kenni is the sheriff of Cottonwood, Kentucky. She is ably assisted not only by her hunky deputy Finn but also by the ghost of her dear Poppa. Poppa was Cottonwood’s sheriff for years and he is on the case to give her guidance and some sass as well.

When a murder occurs (literally as one book ends and the other begins), Kenni is put to the edge to figure out whodunnit. That her ability to do her job is being called into question brings even more pressure to bear on her.

The mystery was interesting and not easily solved. The book has many funny moments and was a real pleasure to read. I’ll be looking forward to more books in this series. Something tells me that Sheriff Lowry will be facing more crime in the next two years before she has to run again for re-election (though her Mama is already geared up to get the run to vote (again) for her baby girl.)

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.
