Fast-paced mystery set in a small town

Framed to Death (A Faith Hunter Scrap This Mystery Book 4)

Rating: 4 of 5

framedtodeathThis is the fourth in a series of mystery books about Faith Hunter. Faith is an ex-Army vet who is now working in her grandmothers scrapbook shop.

I often read books in series out of order to see if they stand up well as a stand-alone book. I recommend that, for this book, the series be read in order. There are many characters with back history, relationships and occurrences which would be much clearer with the knowledge you would have from the prior books.

As it was, I had some problems keeping track of who was who and how they meshed with one another. I do appreciate that while the plots from the prior books were discussed, for the most part and one notable exception, the mysteries were not disclosed. I’ll be able to read the earlier books and still enjoy them.

In this story, Faith’s hometown is being targeting with fires. The question is, were they set intentionally or were they accidents? I find it interesting that the vast majority of the citizens know of Faith’s interest in solving crimes and consider her a bit of a busybody. It intrigues me to wonder how that came about in the earlier books. Some of her local townspeople are happy to help and others want to steer well clear of her.

The action went forward at a good pace and the whodunnit was reasonable. I look forward to reading more books in the series to see where Faith’s potential new relationship ends up.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.
