Fun mystery read about an ex-nun private detective

Nun But The Brave (A Giulia Driscoll Mystery Book 3)

nunbutthebraveWhile this is the third book in the Giulia Driscoll murder mystery series, it is the first one that I have read. The beginning of the book may have assumed that the reader had read the prior books as it started in the middle of a scene with a variety of characters. I felt pretty lost but read on and within a short amount of time, I felt that I knew who each character was. I do suggest reading the books in order as it took time and effort to figure out who was who.

Once I was beyond that, I found the book to be an engaging and interesting (albeit rather long) read. I’m definitely planning on reading the back list which also appears to include some earlier works by another publisher. I’ve interested to find out why and how Giulia left the convent and definitely how she ended up as a private detective.

This story focuses on a missing person who has disappeared without a trace. There are additional subplots and lots of diversions along the way to the whodunnit. I had not figured it out but once it was revealed, I could recall clues left in the text. Overall, a very satisfying read with fun characters.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.
