Lowcountry Bonfire (A Liz Talbot Mystery) (Volume 6)
By: Susan M. Boyer
Rating: 5 of 5
I am a real fan of Susan M. Boyer’s Liz Talbot mystery series. The latest (“Lowcountry Bonfire”) is another great entry in the lineup.
In this story, the paranormal touch is lighter than in many of the other books. Coleen, who is the ghost of Liz’s best friend from high school, has been warned off helping Liz and her husband Nate too much. For that reason, she is less involved in this particular story but there is a promise of more coming in future books.
The book starts off with a funny scene involving a client whose husband has been caught cheating on her. Things go south quick when a body is found and the murder investigation starts.
The whodunnit was surprising but there were hints given throughout that could help to figure it out. This was not a mystery where the solution is just dumped on the reader at the end. The relationship between Liz and her Mamma is definitely one of the funnier ones in the book as well as the series and always gives me a laugh. I’m looking forward to more books in the future.
I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.
