Interesting mystery set in San Antonio

River City Dead (An Aggie Mundeen Mystery) (Volume 4)

Rating: 4 of 5

I’ve read a couple of books in this series. It is set in San Antonio, TX (which is a few hundred miles south of where I currently live.) When I lived in Austin, my husband and I would routinely drive down to San Antonio for concerts and some find shopping and dining experiences. The book does a wonderful job of describing the city as it is today and gives a great bit of information about its history.

The book is a entry in a series about Aggie Mundeen. Aggie is a Chicago native who has moved to Texas and is still finding her feet after a few years. She has a would-be boyfriend, Sam, who is a detective and a job has an advice guru on aging and getting fit.

There is less focus on her job in this book as she is in River City for the Fiesta week. She and her new boyfriend are planning to advance their relationship to the next level by spending the week together in a penthouse suite of a favored hotel. Those plans go awry when a body is found in the suite. Sam gets caught up in the investigation and Aggie, being herself, soon gets embroiled in solving it as well.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.
