A mash up of many genres

The Vorrh (Vintage Original)

thevorrh“The Vorrh” is an attempt to fuse multiple genres and writing styles into something new and different. Probably not unlike a Mexican Sushi fusion restaurant. You’re not exactly sure what you’re going to get. This book attempts to fuse steam punk, science fiction, fantasy, African folklore, American and English historical individual and other references in both third person and first person using the writing style a English literature professor would love. This is all combined in a single book.

The author is attempting to produce some new genre that goes beyond the confines of science fiction or fantasy as most people know it today. He succeeds at producing something very different than anything else. While I appreciate the concept of a new genre and give the author kudos for his attempt, it did not appeal to me. For my tastes, in the same way I would not be interested in eating a Bean, Cheese and Tuna roll or a Sashimi dipped in nacho sauce, this book (while interesting) was a little too unusual in concept for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via the publisher.
