Lovely grayscale story coloring book with beautiful illustrations

The Baker’s Dozen Coloring Book

This is a really lovely grayscale coloring book. It is actually a storybook as well. The story has to do with how a baker’s dozen (13 instead of 12) came into being.

The story is sweet and the illustrations are really beautiful and done well. Not only with regards to the actual linework but with regards to the shading from light to deep which is imperative for a well-done grayscale book.

This is what I found in this coloring book:

16 pages of designs plus a page with with three mini areas of design for testing color and medium.

The book is glue bound, is very so slightly rough to the touch has slightly off white thin paper and is not perforated.

The book is really a story book and I, for one, will not be removing pages from it. It is slightly longer than the usual coloring book but still sits on my bookshelf well.

Only my alcohol-based markers bled through this paper. I had not problems with water-based markers, India ink or gel pens leaking through.

Pencils worked well with the pages but I wasn’t really pleased with how my pencil style blender stick worked. It seemed to lightly rub color off rather than burnish it in. If I wanted to use a blending material with this book, I would choose a wet one rather than the stick.

I will still use a blotter page below each page as I color it to keep leaks and or dents from occurring.

I was provided a copy of this coloring book by the artist.

Here are some samples of pages of the book:
