Lovely Peter Rabbit touch and feel and lift the flaps board book

Where’s Peter? (Peter Rabbit)

wherespeterThis is my second touch and feel Peter Rabbit book. I bought them for my grandson in preparation for Easter. The first book I bought was only a touch and feel book but this one is also a lift the flaps book.

My grandson is almost 18 months old and he really enjoys the new process of lifting the flaps to see what is underneath. I have other peek a boo type books but this one is amongst the first I have that are paper and not fabric. He seems a little young to be going through this book on his as he has been trying to pull the lift tabs a little too hard. To preserve the book, I am currently keeping this one as one that he can only look at with Grandma’s help.

The book is very cute – with the story and illustrations what you would expect from Beatrix Potter. Some of the best loved characters are present: Jemima Puddle-Duck, Tom Kitten, Squirrel Nutkin, Jeremy Fisher, and, of course, Peter Rabbit. The words are fairly simple – which is good as books with too much words can sometimes try little ones patience. There are a variety of textures to feel, though furry is the predominant one.

I agree that the binding is not incredibly sturdy (as some have noted in their reviews) but it is certainly on par with other books I have seen and have bought that are in this category (paper touch and feel and lift the flaps.) I think that the flaps are much more sturdy than others I have purchased – it is just that my little one is particularly strong and tough on things. Once he has learned not to rip and tear, I think this will be a great book for him to have at his bedside when he comes to visit Grandma and Grandpa.
