Second book in series is even better than the first

The Way of the Wicked (Hope Street Church Mysteries Book 2)

thewayofthewicked“The Way of the Wicked” is the second mystery in the Hope Street Church series. As with the first book, I really enjoyed reading the upbeat story (well, at least as upbeat as you can get solving murders.) I liked this book even more as we get more depth about a number of the characters.

It picks up a few months after the last story ends, following a summer hiatus from the Bible study. The group gets involved in a charity that delivers food to the elderly and some suspicious deaths begin to occur. They decide that they must investigate and off we go. There are a few relationships that are being built and personal issues being dealt with. I like that the individuals have their flaws and that the book doesn’t make out Christians to be better than everyone else – just that they have ways of dealing with crisis that others don’t.

Cooper is the primary focus of the book. She is still trying to figure out her new relationship with Nathan while at the same time fending off all the well-meant advice of her family. I’m looking forward to reading more about her adventures in the following books in the series.

I received a sample copy of this book from the publisher, Beyond the Page, via Netgalley
