Not my favorite book in this series

Thanksgiving in Paradise (A Tj Jensen Mystery Book 10)

By: Kathi Daley

Rating: 3 of 5

I’ll start off by saying that I have been a real fan of this series. For some reason, though, in this book, the author has changed her style tremendously.

Instead of action, there is a lot of talk. A whole lot of talk. Rather than sleuthing, it seems that TJ talks to her boyfriend Kyle, to the police friend Roy, and to just about everyone else about what happened and what her various pet theory of the moment is.

The story seems as much about progressing various relationships as it is about a whodunnit. Speaking of which, the whodunnit isn’t so much solved as the clues are dropped onto the reader as the story goes along. If you are reading this series, it is important to read this book as there are many changes and progressions.

Also, merely talking to someone for five minutes, doesn’t seem like enough to cause them to confess. I won’t go further into that as it would be a spoiler but I could not have guess the whodunnit because the clues were not there.

However, I still like the characters and the author’s sense of plot points. Starting with an explosion was literally and figuratively, a huge bang. I hope in the next book in this series, she is back to writing the type of books I found so enjoyable in the first nine books.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Edelweiss.
