Funny first book in an Amish mystery series

Kappy King and the Puppy Kaper (An Amish Mystery Book 1)

This is a fun mystery series. While its main sleuth is Amish, the focus is on solving the mystery as well as its Amish roots.

Kappy King is a young Amish woman. She is pretty much ignored by the people who live in her small valley. Her aunt was a little crazy and the people figure that Kappy is as well.

When a neighbor, Ruth Peachey, is found murdered, suspicion falls on her special needs son, Jimmy (who has Down’s Syndrome.) Kappy does believe, for one minute that the young man is guilty.

When Jimmy’s sister Edie shows up, she and Kappy get together to solve the mystery of whodunnit and to get Jimmy out of jail. Edie kinda, sorta drags Kappy along with her as the people of the town won’t speak to Edie as she left the faith and is being shunned.

Kappy doesn’t have a problem speaking with her, which makes the other townspeople think they were right in their suspicions that Kappy is odd.

Suspicions point this way and that. There are a few individuals who may have have a gripe with Peachey.

I had a lot of chuckles along the way, from the beginning to the end. I’m looking forward to reading more in the Kappy King mystery series.
