Suspenseful mystery series set in Regency England

The Heiress of Linn Hagh (The Detective Lavender Mysteries Book 1)

This was an interesting mystery set in the Regency period in England. The sleuth is Detective Lavender and his companion is his trusty Constable Woods.

I thought this was the first in the series but discovered that there are other short stories that preceded the first full length novel. I will go back and read those as well before proceeding to the second book in the series.

I still enjoyed reading the book but I believe there were things touched upon (but with no spoilers) that had happened previously. I’m looking forward to those.

In this story, the duo are in the north of England investigating the case of a missing heiress. She went missing from inside a locked room and no one can figure out how she vanished.

Lavender and Woods set about looking for clues and discover a whole lot more than they first expected. There are good individuals and there are very bad ones, indeed.

It is up to this two to find the heiress before it is too late. They have to also bear in mind that unknown others may have been up to no good and to not give any information away to these people.
