More autobiography than a knitting project book

Knit the Sky: Cultivate Your Creativity with a Playful Way of Knitting

Rating: 4 of 5

knitthesky“Knit the Sky” is an interesting discussion of one woman’s thoughts about knitting and life. It is very different from what I was expecting; however, I had never heard of Lea Redmond before reading her book. Apparently, she is fairly well-known for some knitting challenges but, as I said, I had never heard of her.

The book was interesting and it included a number of projects. Where it fell a little flat for me was that there were no photographs of the finished items or projects in progress. Oddly, there were drawings but I would have much rather seen a real example of the product. The patterns are referred to in text but are put off until the end of the book. This makes the book read more like an autobiography than a knitting pattern book. For her fans, this may be wonderful. For someone interested in seeing and testing knitting patterns, a little less than wonderful.

The book was well-written and interesting – just not what I was expecting.

I received a digital ARC copy of this book from the publisher, Storey Publishing, LLC , via Netgalley.
