My favorite Hallmark series

One in a Million – Signed, Sealed Delivered

By: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries

Rating: 5 of 5

The Signed, Sealed Delivered series of Hallmark movies is my favorite (and I like many of their other shows.) There is something special about this cast of characters (and the actors who play them), the plots and the overall storyline of the series that keeps me coming back to, and watching them, over and over again.

I am hoping that Hallmark will release the two movies that would complete the storyline up to now. For some reason, they held back on two but hopefully that will be fixed in the near future. While, for the most part, the stories finish in one movie, the overall relationship between the characters progresses from one movie to the other and currently there is a gap.

Cute Holiday Romance

Broadcasting Christmas

By: The Hallmark Channel

Rating: 5 of 5

“Broadcasting Christmas” is a Hallmark Christmas movie that pits two television news broadcasters against each other in a game of trying to upstage one another while vying for a coveted job.

Veronika Daniels (Jackée Harry) is the host of America’s favorite daytime show “Rise and Shines” and is looking for a new co-host after her current partner leaves the show. Charlie Fisher (Dean Cain), has what seems like an inside lock on the job as he is not only good friends with the show’s producer, Patrice Montgomery (Cynthia Gibb), but also the soon of a television broadcaster who is nothing short of a legend in the business.

While Charlie has the inside position, there is still two other serious candidates for the job. That is, until a fourth dark horse candidate pops up.

Emily Morgan (Melissa Joan Hart), is that candidate. She is also a friend from the past of both Charlie and Patrice. Well, more than a friend of Charlie as the two shared a romance in the past. She still works at the local Connecticut news station where all three started out. She is now a human interest reporter and, at the last minute, videos a plea to have Veronika consider her for the job. When the video goes viral, Emily is added to the list of contenders.

Another fun Hallmark Christmas movie from Debbie Macomber

Mr. Miracle

By: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries

Rating: 5 of 5

This is a fun and heartwarming Christmas movie. In this movie, Harry Mills (Rob Morrow) is an angel who is being sent back to Earth in a human body for the first time. He is to be guided by Celeste (Michelle Harrison), an angel who has been a human assistant for many, many years. She is currently working as a barista at a coffee shop near a local college and will be showing Harry how to help his first assignment, Addie Folsom.

Addie (Brittney Irvin) is a young woman who goes to the community college and Harry is to be her new English professor. Addie is very fearful of being in a college class because she has done poorly in school all her life.

Harry is quick to discount Celeste’s suggestions and goes of on his own, despite Celeste’s warning that, should he fail at his task, he will be sent back to Heaven. Harry comes on too strong with Addie and scares her even more.

Christmas Romance with a more serious theme

Finding Father Christmas

By: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries

Rating: 5 of 5

When I tuned in to watch “Finding Father Christmas”, I expected the usual sweet and happy ending Christmas movie that Hallmark Channel is noted for. While there was certainly a romance and a focus on Christmas, there was also a more serious theme to this movie. Miranda (played by Erin Krakow) was orphaned at a young age. Her mother was an actress and her father? Well, Miranda has no idea. Her mother would never tell her.

Years later, Miranda comes across a box filled with her mother’s things and in it are some clues which may help her find her out about her father. Miranda throws heart in front of head and decides to go on an adventure to locate her past. In doing so, she ends up in a small town across the country right in time for Christmas.

Miranda meets and comes to care for Ian, Niall Matter, the young man who decides to help her find her father. The answer to this question was a more serious look at behavior than I expect from Hallmark. They handled it deftly and with appropriate gravity.

Another wonderful movie in this great series

From the Heart – Signed, Sealed Delivered

By: Hallmark Movies and Mysteries

Rating: 5 of 5

I’ve watched this show from the original pilot, to the series and then finally to the series of movies on Hallmark’s Movies and Mysteries channel. From the plots to the characters, it is one of my and my family’s favorites. The only thing I wish is that Hallmark would release the two movies that were recorded before this one. While the major plot of the movie is generally covered in one show, the relationships between the characters grow from show to show.

This movie is set at Valentine’s Day. Norman Dorman (Geoff Gustafson) and Rita Haywith (Crystal Lowe) are now a couple and it will be the first Valentine’s Day for each of them during which they are not alone. Oliver O’Toole (Eric Mabius) and Shane McInerney (Kristin Booth) have still not gotten together though each is interested in the other.

A fun relationship romantic comedy

The Convenient Groom

By: The Hallmark Channel

Rating: 5 of 5

Dr. Kate Lawrence (Vanessa Marcil) is a relationship advice expert. She has just run into an old friend from high school, Lucas Wright (David Sutcliffe). Lucas is now a carpenter who makes beautiful hand-made furniture. In the old days, Lucas had a huge crush on Kate and it seems like perhaps the flame still burns.

In hopes that some great publicity will land her a much-coveted book deal, Kate decides to announce her engagement (very publicly) to make the splash of news that should seal the deal. When her fiance, Bryan (Aaron Craven), calls the wedding off just as the cameras have started to roll it seems like the publicity stunt is about to backfire. Lucas steps in and steps up by announcing he is Kate’s fiance.

Cute modern day interpretation of Pride and Prejudice

Unleashing Mr. Darcy

By: The Hallmark Channel

Rating: 4 of 5

“Unleashing Mr. Darcy” is one of the latest remakes of Jane Austen’s iconic novel, “Pride and Prejudice”. I’m quite a fan of all of Ms. Austen’s works with “Pride and Prejudice” being one of my favorites. I’ve read many books and seen both movie and television mini-series interpretations and always look forward to seeing a new take on it.

In “Unleashing Mr. Darcy”, the role of Elizabeth Bennet is transformed into Elizabeth Scott (played by Cindy Busby) and Fitzwilliam Darcy becomes Donovan Darcy (played by Ryan Paevey). In the story, recently unemployed (unfairly fired) Elizabeth finds temporary employment as a dog handler and is also able to show her own King Charles Spaniel at a dog show where Darcy is judging the competition.

The two meet in less than stellar circumstances and are left with less than wonderful views of one another. In that sense, the movie follows the book very well. Darcy certainly appears full of pride and Elizabeth is quick to form opinions based on very little face.
