“The Galaxy Pirates: Hunt for the Pyxis” by Zoe Ferraris is the start of what could be a great series of books for young readers. This book was a very fun read and it includes all the things almost anyone would want in an adventure series including heroes, villains, pirates, evil Queens, interstellar sailing ships, magic and all sorts of fantastical creatures.
The story centers around Emma and Herbie, from Earth, and the adventures they take to save Emma’s parents and the universe from the evil Queen.
This book is clearly the first of a series. It takes you on the beginning of Emma and Herbie’s interstellar adventure to save the universe. The first story helps build the foundation for future books. In the story, you get to learn about the main characters and many of the friends and foes that they meet along the way. The story has is a clear sense of purpose both for the book and as the beginning of the series.
The writing is great, the imagery and the magical universe where the story takes place is well thought out making story fun to read. I enjoyed this book very much and I am sure that it could be the next swashbuckling story for readers that have enjoyed Harry Potter or other similar stories.
