47 Chibi Christmas designs by Christopher Hart – printed one side of the page

The Cute Chibi Christmas Coloring Book

Rating: 5 of 5

This is my third coloring book by Christopher Hart. I love the idea of Chibi characters set in a Christmas scenario. Chibi is a form of Manga characters but are cute and adorable with distinct characterizations which set them apart from the standard Manga style.

The characters are cute just as the title says. There are Chibi girls and boys, Santa and his reindeer. Even some Chibi pets and stuffed animals.

While there are lots of designs showing Christmas trees and Santa, the book is secular in nature. It does not explore religious themes. There are outside scenes with snow which should be fun to color as the weather turns cold.

Unlike my previous books where the backgrounds were merely backdrops, in this coloring book the backgrounds are an integral part of each design.

The designs are detailed because of the backgrounds. Otherwise, the characters are fun and fairly easy to color. They are not what I would characterize as intricate with small areas to color.

This is what I found in this coloring book

47 Chibi Christmas designs are included in the book.

Printed on one side of the page

Paper is heavy weight, white, smooth and non-perforated

Sewn Binding

Almost all designs merge into the binding area but the area is background and you will not lose any essential portion of the design if you want to cut pages out. If you want to remove pages, I suggest removing several pages at a time by clipping the binding threads. This way, the designs can be removed in total without any loss at all.

Book can be opened fairly flat for coloring by breaking the spine

Alcohol-based markers bleed through the paper

Water-based markers were mixed. Most did not bleed through but I found that Stabilo 88 markers did bleed through when I used dark colors.

Gel pens and India ink pens did not bleed through the paper

Coloring pencils worked okay. I was able to get good color and layered well. Blending was only okay with both oil and wax based pencils having a slightly waxy appearance when I used a blending pencil. I found I prefer a liquid blending medium when using pencils in this book.
