Great start to a mystery series about collectibles

A Killer Collection (Antiques & Collectibles Mysteries Book 1)

akillercollection“A Killer Collection” is the debut book in a mystery series by Ellery Adams about antiques and collectibles. I have read another series by Ms. Adams (The Hope Street Church Mysteries) and enjoyed all of them. I really enjoyed this new book and found it quite different from the previous books I have read by this author.

In “A Killer Collection” we are introduced to Molly, who is a writer for Collector’s Weekly. She has become heavily involved in the collector scene in her area of North Carolina. In this book, we are treated to a bit of a lesson about pottery making as well as a different kind of whodunnit. I must admit that I had not figured out the ending and it came as a surprise to me. I also enjoyed the twist that the author gave us on that ending.

The description of pottery making had me wanting to try my hand at it – it was very descriptive and appealing. For a book about collecting, one might think you would want to go buy a clay pot or two but for me, it was that I wanted to learn how to make them.

I am looking forward to reading more in this series and recommend to those who like a good cozy mystery. I received a sample copy of this book from the publisher, Beyond the Page, via Netgalley.
