A fun Amish mystery with unlikely sleuths and lots of cupcakes

True Confections: An Amish Cupcake Cozy Mystery

Jane Delight has come back to her Amish hometown. Not because it is so wonderful and she wants to rejoin the Amish but because she is broke after her husband of thirty years left her high and dry. Luckily for Jane, her twin sister Rebecca (who is Amish) has an apartment above her cupcake store.

Jane doesn’t live there by herself. She is joined by two well-travelled older ladies, Eleanor and Matilda, with a penchant for solving crimes. They have also brought home a semi-feral cat. The cat almost makes the book all by himself. Just kidding, the story is great.

When an unlikeable man keels over, in the cupcake shop, shortly after eating a cupcake, suspicions fall on Jane and her sister. Detective McCloud, a transplanted Scot, is learning to work with the Amish and some of his mis-steps are very funny. He’s also easy on the eyes and seems to be drawn to Jane.

I’m looking forward to reading this series. While I have read many mysteries over the years, I’m fairly new to Amish cozy mysteries and this one was a really fun read.
