This is the first book I have read by this author as well as the first book in this new cozy mystery series.
The setting is a family-owned ice cream shop that is being taken back to its roots of hand-made ice cream. The woman responsible for this transformation is Bronwyn (Win) Crewse, who has the support for her family in getting the business back to its glory days.
On the day the shop opens, there is a snow storm. There is also a murder and Win finds the body. It turns out that the murdered man (Dead Guy), is an individual who tried to swindle the Crewse family years ago.
Suspicion falls on Win’s father and Win and her friends decide to help the detective investigating the crime as he appears to be headed in completely the wrong direction.
Wins friends made me laugh out loud through the book. I especially liked a take down scene that happened closer to the end. I liked the characters, the plot and the the overall story theme. That’s saying a lot for someone who is completely lactose intolerant and cannot take even a bite of ice cream or anything else containing a whiff of lactose. Maybe the author will (hint, hint) include a lactose free ice cream recipe in a future book.
I’m looking forward to more of this funny mystery series in the future.
