Another suspenseful read by Michele Campbell. It is a story about murder and love and greed.
Tabitha Girard is working at a restaurant in the small town she grew up in. Her “lost” love comes back to town and immediately starts to woo her. The only problem is that is married to a beautiful and successful older woman who is incredibly rich.
Mr. Malcolm is a rich and eligible bachelor. He has females running after him all the time. In order to weed out those who are unsuitable (by his criteria), he creates and list and if a young lady doesn’t meet just one item on the list, she is out of consideration.
A young lady, Julia, takes umbrage at the thought, having read much more into an evening with Mr. Malcolm has her escort, and she makes plants to get even.
This story picks up a few months after the first book ends. While the subject matter is separate, the characters are not. So much background is given in the first book, I highly recommend reading it first but it is not necessary in order to enjoy this book.
Lucy Lancaster is a genealogist who is researching the family tree of Pippa Sutton. Pippa is the owner of the Sutton luxury hotel chain and is hosting her family for a get-together at New Years. The day is to cap off with a presentation of their shared family history.
Lucy Lancaster is the sleuth in this new cozy mystery series. She is a genealogist who specializes in Texas history. She’s been researching the family history of Texas billionaire, Gus Halloran. Her research turns up the murder of his ancestor.
Because of the implications of who did the foul deed, Lucy needs to be sure that what she thinks is accurate. While investigating, she becomes a target of a murderer in the present day.
She is sure that discovering the past and tracing it through to present day will be what solves the mystery. Along the way, she runs afoul of the FBI and ends up in the quasi-custody of one agent.
This was the first book I have read by this author, so I wasn’t sure of what to expect. Having read it, I will certainly be reading more books by her in the near future.
Samantha Casey is the librarian at the fun private school in Galveston, Texas. She loves the principal and his wife, who also happen to be her landlords.
As events unfold, another principal comes to the school. That person is Duncan Carpenter, who just so happens to be the individual who was behind Samantha’s move from a California school to Texas.
While she is personally disturbed by his coming, she is sure that his quirky and lovable antics will soon put others at ease. Turns out Duncan has changed and not for the better.
While this was an excellent book, it was difficult for me to read. It touched on one of the most tragic areas of my own life. A little more than twenty years ago, my son was stricken with an aggressive form of leukemia and passed away eighteen months later.
In this story, we follow the life of Willa Lakey, who is the older sister of Harper. Harper is in remission after struggling, dreadfully, with chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant after being diagnosed with leukemia.
Harper is finding her feet again but Willa can’t help from hovering over her and watching her like a hawk. Willa has devoted her life to Harper and to opening her coffee shop when Sean O’Malley comes into her life.
This was an interesting mystery set in the Regency period in England. The sleuth is Detective Lavender and his companion is his trusty Constable Woods.
I thought this was the first in the series but discovered that there are other short stories that preceded the first full length novel. I will go back and read those as well before proceeding to the second book in the series.
I still enjoyed reading the book but I believe there were things touched upon (but with no spoilers) that had happened previously. I’m looking forward to those.
What a fantastic new start to a suspenseful mystery series. The story revolves around Mason Reid and his K-9 dogs. Vira is his newest dog and, along with Sue (a boy named as such), Delta and Maggie May, steal the show.
What surprised me was that the book was not only a great suspense and mystery book but also really funny. The author has a way of bringing the dogs to life and wraps them around the the heart of the audience.
When I first picked up this book, I thought it would a suspenseful mystery as were the other books I have read by this author. It turned out that was not the case.
The story is about secrets which are being kept between a husband and wife which have huge impacts upon their family. It takes an awful tragedy to get this two to consider sharing with one another.
I’ve read most of the books in this series and have enjoyed them all. It is a series set on an island just off shore from Charleston. Liz Talbot and her husband Nate Andrews are private detectives. They are assisted, from time-to-time by the ghost of Liz’s high school best friend, Colleen.
In this story, the two are contracted to look into the murder of a professor. His nephew is the prime suspect and looks guilty. They are asked to investigate on behalf of one of his business partners, whom Liz already believes to be guilty in an earlier murder.
