Beautiful collaborative 2016 Calendar from the artists of DesignOriginals (DO) Magazine printed on perforated paper
2016 Design Originals Coloring Calendar
By: Valentina Harper
Rating: 5 of 5
This is a collaborative calendar featuring the artwork of a number of DO magazine and coloring book including artists: Valentina Harper, Ben Kwok, Thaneeya McArdle, Robin Pickens, and Jess Violinski. I am familiar with Ms. Harper, Ms. McArdle, and Ms. Violinski’s artwork as I have other coloring books by each of them. It was nice to see the other artists work, too, so I have an understanding of their if/when they have coloring books featuring their artwork published.
The calendar is a 12 months calendar and has a large design for each month. In addition, there are 16 smaller designs included in the calendar. The book includes two colorway examples of each of the major designs as well as coloring tips, listed holidays, and quotes for each month.
The calendar is printed on both sides of the bright white page for the larger designs; however, the reserve side of the design is the prior months calendar listing, so you won’t be losing a design if your ink leaks through. The smaller designs are printed on one side of the page only. The binding is stapled, so if you wish to remove the calendar entirely from the bound edge, you can do so easily. Additionally, all of the pages are perforated for easy removal. The smaller designs are perforated on all connecting sides to make it very easy to remove and take them apart.
All of my markers and gel pens bleed through this paper. If I decide to use those instead of coloring pencils, I will place a heavy sheet of paper under the page I am working on to keep ink from leaking through.
