Another great addition to this wonderful mystery series
The Murder of Mary Russell: A novel of suspense featuring Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes
By: Laurie R. King
Rating: 5 of 5
I was late to the starting point with this series. I began reading it with the “Dreaming Spies” and was beginning to work my way through the series from the beginning. I jumped ahead once again to read “The Murder of Mary Russell” as it is just being released. Another great read and one that had me wondering up until the end about where the book was headed.

Part of a series but read as a great stand-alone novel
Heart Conditions (The Breakup Doctor Series) (Volume 3)
By:Phoebe Fox
Rating: 5 of 5
“Heart Conditions” by Phoebe Fox is the third book in a series about Brook Ogden, who is a therapist known as The Breakup Doctor. I read the book without realizing at first that it was part of a series but I often read book out of order to see how they fare as a stand-alone. This one passed that test very well. The only thing is, I liked it so well, I have already purchased the first two in the series so I can be up-to-date when Ms. Fox releases another book.
Brook has had some issues with her love life and rather than having it make her grown weak, it has made her stronger. She dispenses advice to her patients, her radio audience and to those who read her column in the local newspaper.

Tenth in a series of mysteries set in British Columbia
Unreasonable Doubt: A Constable Molly Smith Novel (Constable Molly Smith Novels)
By: Vicki Delany
Rating: 4 of 5
When I started reading this book, I had no idea that it was tenth in a series. I often read books out of order in a series to see if I can still find my way as a reader. It quickly became obvious, to me, that this was not going to be an easy story to simply pick up and read. There are many characters with a lot of back history that is integral to the plot development.

Harrowing story of a child missing for years
She’s Not There
By: Joy Fielding
Rating: 5 of 5
“She’s Not There” tells the story of Caroline Shipley. She is the mother of two who is convinced (by her husband) to leaver her two young daughters alone in their hotel room in order to celebrate their anniversary dinner with family in friends. The worst happens and their youngest daughter goes missing.
Fifteen years later, Caroline is still heart-broken and the “anniversary” of the kidnapping is coming up. She gets a call from a young woman who announces that she believes she is Caroline’s missing daughter.

Heart-warming and lovely story about two women who find their ways while hosting a quilting show
From Here To Home (A Too Much, Texas Novel)
By: Marie Bostwick
Rating: 5 of 5
I have only read one of Marie Bostwick’s stand-alone novels (“The Second Sister”) which I enjoyed so much, I was very happy to pick up “From Here to Home” to read and enjoy. I didn’t realize that it was a second in a series or that Ms. Bostwick is well known for her quilt novels. This is a book that can absolutely be read stand-alone without issue. However, since reading this book, I want to go back and read the first book which is apparently set 30 years earlier and gives a great bit of background on some of the major characters in this story.

Two romances in one – two women find love again after painful divorces
A Girl’s Guide to Moving On: A Novel
By: Debbie Macomber
Rating: 4.5 of 5
While “A Girl’s Guide to Moving On” is listed as a stand-alone novel by Debbie Macomber, it is really the follow-on to last years “Last One Home.”
In the newest book, we are following the youngest of the three sisters whose life has fallen apart. Nicole’s husband has cheated on her and she walks out taking their toddler son with her. Her mother-in-law, Leanne, has lived with her own husband’s infidelities for many, many years and decides to courageously follow Nicole’s example and finally divorce him.

Another Great Intellectual Murder Mystery
Switcheroo (A Gideon Oliver Mystery)
By: Aaron Elkins
Rating: 4 of 5
This is a series that I have read out of order over the years. I missed a few of the more recent books and so the personal life of forensic anthropologist Gideon Oliver has advanced and changed a bit since the last book I read. However, I read the book for the mystery and Mr. Elkins ability to write a great and cerebral murder mystery has not changed at all. It is arguable that Mr. Elkins started the genre of forensic anthropology murder mysteries with his Gideon Oliver books.

Interesting and imaginative story
Ashley Bell: A Novel
By: Dean Koontz
Rating: 4 of 5
This is the first Dean Koontz novel I have read in a very long time. It was interestingly written but in some ways a tad confusing for me. The characters jumped around a bit and I was never quite sure of where I was in the story.
